Japanese kana instead of keyboard letters in Launchpad

Asked by TWO

Hi

When I load launchpad up under Kubuntu Hardy Heron and Firefox 3, the text is being displayed with Japanese Kana in place of what should be an alphanumeric characters.

For example, when I press the the left and right square brackets consecutively, I get this: [ and ].

I don't know whether they appear correctly for you but for me, I see two Japanese kana (letters.)

Firefox's encoding is set to Unicode (UTF-8) and no matter what I change the encoding too, the same problem occurs.

This doesn't occur anywhere else in my system, within Firefox or on other webpages, to my knowledge.

The brackets appear correctly for me, using Ubuntu (not Kubuntu in my case) Hardy Heron and Firefox 3. I really have no idea what this could be. If anyone can, it's probably Matthew Paul Thomas—so I'm assigning this question to him.

Can you help with this problem?
