.pot upload failed; on uploading it again

Asked by poy

hi,

i have recently uploaded a new translation template for the DC++ project, called "dcpp-help".

it just got reviewed, and i received an e-mail saying that the import failed, because there were wrong line endings in the file. however, the template still seems to have been created in Launchpad; it can be found at <https://translations.launchpad.net/dcplusplus/trunk/+pots/dcpp-help>. it doesn't contain any string though, which is expected since there was an error in the template file formatting.

i hopefully fixed it, and went ahead with uploading a second "dcpp-help.pot" file. i immediately received the same e-mail, about the same error at the same line. it seems that the system assimilated that 2nd upload as the 1st one, and actually tried to review the 1st one instead. in fact, it is sitting in the "import queue" <https://translations.launchpad.net/dcplusplus/trunk/+imports> with the date 2008-09-10; that is when i uploaded the 1st file, not the 2nd one that i uploaded today (2008-09-13).

note that if i try to download the file, i get the 2nd (fixed) one, and that the status is back at "Needs review" - it was "Failed" after the 1st upload.

what concerns me is the wrong date of the 2nd file, along with the (also wrong) e-mail i immediately received when i uploaded it. will this file actually be reviewed, and its strings put in the newly created "dcpp-help" template?
or do i have to change its name to make sure it is reviewed again?

thanks in advance.

both e-mails mention the same <http://launchpadlibrarian.net/17488519/C%3A%5CMes%20documents%5CWebs
%5Cdcpp-help.pot> file, which is the 1st one.

the 2nd one is at <http://launchpadlibrarian.net/17578817/C%3A%5CMes%20documents%5CWebs%5Cdcpp-help.pot>, so the 2nd e-mail i received was probably some kind of echo of the 1st one.

The second upload should have replaced the first one, though its entry would keep the old upload date. Did you update the "PO-Revision-Date" in the PO file's header, so that the system knows that it's an update?

You could also try setting the old entry's state to Deleted, waiting perhaps an hour for the entry to be cleaned up, and then uploading the new file.

when changing the status, i get the "There is 1 error." message.

do i have to upload each language-specific .po's to initiate languages? i only uploaded the .pot template, and thought languages would fill up with strings by themselves; for example, i was expecting to see strings to translate in <https://translations.launchpad.net/dcplusplus/trunk/+pots/dcpp-help/fr/+translate>.

the .pot file has a correct "POT-Creation-Date", but the "PO-Revision-Date" is at its default value ("YEAR-MO-DA HO:MI+ZONE").
