repeatedly logged out of launchpad

For the last few days I've found that I keep getting logged out of edge. I can log in again and it works for a while.

This morning when I first used Launchpad at about 9:10 (utc+10) I had to log in, despite using it from this machine last night. Then at about 9:40 I found I was logged off again and had to reauthenticate.

This is a bit annoying not least because Launchpad encourages you to have many tabs open and they all need to be reloaded, and form submissions can be lost.

I'm using Firefox on Intrepid. I'm only using one machine at a time to talk to Launchpad. I don't have any relevant plugins installed; I'm not using a privacy proxy; I have Firefox set to 'keep cookies until they expire.'

I have two cookies set for Launchpad, 'edge' and 'lp' and both are set to expire on Saturday the 12th September 2009.

This is happening for me on two different machines, both running intrepid.

This just happened again, this time when I was trying to comment on https://bugs.edge.launchpad.net/launchpad-bazaar/+bug/79496/+addcomment

I get a message "Application error. Unauthenticated user POSTing to page that requires authentication."

If Launchpad is "logging you out" what is happening is your sessions get invalidated in the DB -- and new cookies are then sent to you. Have you tried figuring out whether or not you're getting the same cookie back or not?

I suggest you give Stuart a call in about 2h. He'll be happy to look into this for you.

ok, for edge I currently have a cookie ending in kqxk. Unsurprisingly on every access it is refreshed to expire one year in the future. I'll monitor it.

At stuart's suggestion I deleted the cookie. I now have a new one ending in brFg, expiring a year from now.

I got logged out again and twice logged in, and I know have a cookie on edge ending in ijbs.

I filed https://bugs.edge.launchpad.net/bugs/271142 and I think I know what the bug is - an interaction with using lp feeds as live bookmarks.
