Since I cannot submit the bugreport in the normal way here is the bugreport I wanted to submit:
Since upgrading to linux-image-
Forcefully powering it off (by holding down the power button), booting it again and choosing the Advanced/4.8.0-34 recovery option shows an error message about being unable to find the root fs.
Choosing 4.8.0-32-generic from the boot menu works just fine and boots.
I am using full disk encryption, and 4.8.0-34 doesn't even show the password prompt, it goes black right after loading initramfs.
I tried setting 'MODULES=most' instead of 'MODULES=dep' in /etc/initramfs-

Seems I can file bugs now and I fixed the boot problem (switched compression back to the default gzip instead of lz4 and it works now).
