format hard disk

Asked by luis

does anyone knows how to format the hard disk? i tried using the command sudo su and gksudo nautilus but i still can't i'm trying to clean up the whole system before i put windows and linux in the same machine, i need several programs and some of them only work with linux and some with windows but i'm having a hard time changing the permissions in my hard disk so i can clean it. my second questions is; is there a driver i can use to make my wireless card (802.11 b/g WLAN) work with linux? how can i make it work?

It might take overnight for a question to be answered, and better writing skills don't hurt. :)

From what I could salvage of the question, you want to format the hard disk? To be sure you know what that means, formatting the hard disk is erasing everything. You can use the installation LiveCD for this; boot the CD and go to System > Administration > Partition Editor. You can edit your partitions there, even erase everything.

Are you trying to erase individual files? Well, what exactly are you trying to delete? If you are trying to uninstall programs in Ubuntu Linux, you should use the Add/Remove Applications program or the Synaptic Package Manager.

If clarified your question, I'd be glad to help you more. :)
