Delete "nextcloud" project

Asked by István Váradi

I would like create a team named "nextcloud" instead of the project with the same name. Could you, please, delete the project (or transform it into a team, if possible).

Thanks.

István

Projects and teams are entirely separate things, and it isn't possible to convert one into the other. The existence of a project doesn't stop you from creating a team.

While I could make the project go away, you may well want it anyway for things like code imports; are you sure?

Yes, I am sure. The code is maintained in the Nextcloud client's Github repository.

Thanks. However, I still cannot create a team with the name "nextcloud", because I am told that "nextcloud is already in use by another person or team". I tried the URLs "https://launchpad.net/nextcloud" and "https://launchpad.net/~nextcloud", but they do not exist. Could you check why I get the error message?

The ~nextcloud account is already in use for the Nextcloud project's account in the Ubuntu snap store (myapps.developer.ubuntu.com), and is used for publishing snaps there; the user namespace is shared. While it would be possible for whoever controls that account on your end to turn it into a full Launchpad account, it isn't possible to turn it into a team.

I realise this is somewhat unfortunate, but at the moment the only thing I can suggest is to use some slight variation on the "nextcloud" name for this team.

OK, thanks, I am going to do that.
