How can I set up translations for my project

Asked by Peter Bennett

I have a project "Peter's Backup" and two translators that are helping with translations (German and Dutch). I do not think that it merits setting up a translation team. At the moment anybody can update translations and I think that is not a good situation. Can I set translations to "restricted" and add the two people to my project? Is there a better solution? How do I do this? I created a team called "Pbackup Translators" and added one person to the team. I counld not add the other person and I could not figure how to add these people to my project so that they could update translations. Please can you give some advice and assistance.

Creating the "Pbackup Translators" is the first step.

From what i see Pbackup Translators has 2 members Marc and Peter, and new members can only be added by Peter.

Here is the page explaining this concepts.
https://help.launchpad.net/Translations/YourProject#Creating%20your%20own%20translation%20group

Now you should wait for an Launcpad administrator to assing translation for Peter's Backup to ”Pbackup Translators”.

Maybe you should a new comment stating this requiest.

Peter, there's nothing wrong with setting up a small translation group. For now you can even assign one person for Dutch and another for German; if you get more people per language you can just assign a team for that language instead.

Would you like me to create a translation group for you?

Jeroen
Thank you for the reply.
Yes, please can you set up a translation group. I have Marc Tricou translating to German, Christiaan Knaap for Dutch, I am translating to Afrikaans. From the documentation page, that means if I set translations as restricted and assign the group to those languages, people can suggest for those languages but not update, and for other languages they can update. Is this correct?
Thanks for your help
Peter

Peter, you now have your very own translation group: https://translations.launchpad.net/+groups/pbackup/

You can now appoint the people you mentioned as members responsible for their respective languages.

What you say about Restricted mode is _almost_ entirely correct: what you're describing is actually Structured. The two differ in what happens to those "other languages" (which are not covered by the translation group). In Structured those untended translations act as Open, in Restricted they act as Closed.

Can you help with this problem?
