Please add/overwrite a Reply-To header in yade-dev mailing list

Asked by Janek Kozicki

Hi,

we are migrating our mailing list to luanchpad https://launchpad.net/~yade-dev

Can you configure for us to overwrite a Reply-To email header with <email address hidden> ?

Thank you very much for your patience with this migration of ours.

I mean, so that people will not send emails to each other by accident. But rather to the "Reply-To: <email address hidden>". This way it will be very convenient.

ah! There's is already one email "lost in conversation" as https://launchpad.net/~eudoxos answered directly to me instead of sending answer to the mailing list ;)

Which is shown on the bottom of this page: http://lists.launchpad.net/yade-dev/threads.html
It's a post with the "Message not available" subject line.

thanks!

Sorry, but we do not rewrite the Reply-To headers. There are plenty of resources explaining why it is bad to "munge reply-to" (google that) and of course there are articles with the opposite opinion.

IMO, it is always bad to munge reply-to, under two basic principles. First, we attempt to modify the original message as little as possible, and second, leaving reply-to unchanged provides the greatest possible flexibility for those using modern mail readers, and who understand how to properly use those readers.

If you're losing messages because of this problem, you need to educate your team members.

Can you help with this problem?
