Asked by lborgman

Is it possible to add extra information to the bug reporting page (for example what to test when reporting a bug)?

Yes, there is. If you are the owner of the project, you can set bug reporting guidelines in your +edit page. If you give me more details about what project you would like to do this for, I'll be able to help you more specifically. This was announced back in https://lists.ubuntu.com/archives/launchpad-users/2007-December/002872.html

Thanks Christian.

I was looking in the bug page for the project for some way to change it. Is not that a natural place to have a link to edit how the bug reporting page look?

I don't think it's /the/ natural place, though it might be a place to put it. If you told me what project you are talking about I'd be able to give you a URL, but visit your +edit page and look for "bug reporting guidelines".

What makes you think it is not the right place? What UI guidelines do you follow? Is there perhaps some research reports you can refer to?

I hope I can find the page to edit the bug page now. But I have seen several other places where the help link is not placed on the page where you need it. As I said above I wonder about the reason they are not there. (You may have good reasons, I do not know.)

The guideline I'm thinking about in this specific case discourages
placing content that is only useful to a minority on a page (the bug
page, in this case) that is viewed by a majority of users.

However, I'm specifically talking about the bug page above. Thinking a
bit more about the subject, the file-a-bug pages are an excellent place
to put a helpful link to encourage project owners to set bug reporting
guidelines for their projects. If you agree, could you file a bug so we
can address this in our next cycle?

Yes, but there is no need to show the help links to all readers. Or do I misunderstand you?

I believe I agree with you about the file-a-bug page if you think about putting a link there that only people with page editing privs can see.

But why do you want me to file a new bug report (and how in case you find it necessary)? Would it not be better to just take this discussion? You can surely explain any miscommunication we have had.

Yeah, that sounds like the best idea.

It's just because all Launchpad changes are tracked through bug reports.
File the bug against the Bug Tracking (codenamed 'malone') application
here: https://launchpad.net/malone/+filebug

I'll mark this question as answered so we'll discuss that in the bug report. Is that ok for you?

Yes, that seems fine.

Thanks, but the first link below does not work. I get a page saying just
