Unable to unsubscribe from a bug

Asked by Justin Clift

Hi,

I'm getting an error when trying to unsubscribe from a bug (196724):

  https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/consolekit/+bug/196724/+subscribe

When I do this, it asks for confirmation:

  "Unsubscribe me from this bug"

Which I select, then press continue.

To which it then says:

Also tried unsubscribing from the duplicate (196724).

Same error message. :(

Hi Justin,

This is a known launchpad bug, and to unsubscribe of the 196724 bug you're going to unsubscribe directly from the duplicate you're subscribed to.
I've searched among the duplicates, and it seems that the duplicate you're subscribed is a private bug.

Which is the duplicate you said you tried to unsubscribe from?

Thanks,

Ursula

Oops, sorry. Bad cut-n-paste on my part.

The bug that I keep on getting emailed for is 251833. Apparently it's a duplicate of 196724, which I'm subscribed to but can't unsubscribe from.

Tried unsubscribing from 251833 as well, but I couldn't do that either.

Any way you guys can just edit the PostgreSQL database directly and remove me from both bugs? :)

Hi Justin,

you don't seem to be subscribed to bug 251833 anymore. Did you manage to unsubscribe? Can this question be closed?

Thanks

Hi Diogo,

I wish. :)

You're correct, I don't seem to be subscribed to bug 251833. But, I'm still subscribed to bug 196724 even though I don't want to be, and it's not letting me unsubscribe from that. :(

However, to keep things in perspective, even though this bug is annoying it's also not critical. A few extra email messages in my Inbox (which I can filter on my end if need be) isn't causing me data loss.

So, I'd like this fixed, but am not expecting miracles. Heh. :)

Regards and best wishes,

Justin Clift

Thanks Diogo!

Just unsubscribed from that one (204934), and it seems to have worked fine. :)

Note also that the footer on any bugmail we send out tells you why you're receiving bugmail. In your case it would have said "via duplicate bug 204934", I believe.

Hi Christian.

What you're saying makes sense from a theoretical point of view... but... if it's any help, a cut-n-paste of the complete bug mail (minus mail headers) is below.

No actual mention of bug 204934 was in the bugmail that got sent out, so I became confused.

If you guys feel this is worth looking into further - i.e. lack of appropriate footer - I can forward the mail message onto yourselves (with email headers, etc).

But, personally I'm happy to have this bug closed. There are better things to put time into, etc. ;->
