is login/register working in staging area?

On staging.launchpad.net, login/register ==> not registered yet? ==> (I've tried registering a yahoo & gmail accts here multiple times), the result I get is "Registration mail sent." However, after a day of waiting, I don't get an email. This problem did not occur for me yesterday on the non-staging launchpad registration.

If I try the "forgotten my password" link, staging Launchpad says "Your account details have not been found". Ideas?

Staging doesn't send out emails to avoid confusion for people as to whether they're responding to a staging or "production" issue (amongst other reasons). If you want to use an account on staging, just use the same account you have on production - the production DB is imported to staging every night.

I think you should add a message to the registration page on the staging site to explain this. Like Tom above, I created an account yesterday, and just wanted to try things out in staging before messing with things on the main site. When my login didn't work, I thought maybe I needed to register for the staging site separately, and also waited in vain for that email. This will probably be true for quite a few people, and might drive them away. I really like trying things out before doing them on the real site - so staging is a great idea, but this is a serious flaw, IMHO.
