Should openSUSE project be converted into a distribution?

Asked by Richard Laager

This FAQ talks about projects vs. distributions:
https://answers.launchpad.net/launchpad/+faq/22

I registered the openSUSE project a while back to link a bug report to it. Should it be a distribution instead?

Yes, it probably should. Are there many bugs that will make this unwieldy to convert across?

No, there are only three bugs right now.

Done! Since you own the project, you now own the distro as well: https://edge.launchpad.net/opensuse/ -- if you want that reassigned to registry, let me know.

What is the OpenSUSE Members team for? Also, that should probably be "openSUSE Members" instead, as they don't seem to capitalize the first letter. I tried to clean up the three bugs that exist now, but I don't know how to tell Launchpad the names of packages in openSUSE.

The membership team is a silly schema requirement -- you need to have one for a distribution. It won't actually be used, but I've renamed it anyway.

You can't currently tell Launchpad about package names that aren't in Ubuntu. It's a fix for post-July (and a bit tricky at that).

This sounds like bug #226982 then?
