Why has Kitty "no string to be translated" ?

When I click on "Translate this application" on Kitty for Unbuntu 8.04,
the launchpad server tells me "there is no string to be translated for the Kitty application".
Well there are a lot of them in plain english that would need a nice french translation :)
I am a newby ubuntu-wannabe-translator. Please help.

That's because Kitty is in Universe, and we don't maintain a translation for Universe.

You could try approaching the upstream authors to see if they're interested in registering Kitty in Launchpad and doing the translation there.
