Unanswer question?

Asked by Kevin Fischer

Can I undo the 'solved' state of a question if I accidently clicked the solved button instead of the requesting more information button?

This question was expired because it remained in the 'Open' state without activity for the last 15 days.

Hmm, good question. Can you access the page https://answers.edge.launchpad.net/launchpad/+question/28788/+change-status or does it give you a permissions error?

There should be an "I still need an answer" button under the text box. If you enter something in the text box and click that it should reopen the ticket. At least it used to work that way. I don't know if something changed to cause it to act differently. Only the question asker can reopen.

I apologize. Yes, of course you're right in that. However, what I mean is if I ask for more information; I'm not the originator of the question, I just accidently marked it as answered when I was asking for more info. I wouldn't want someone's question to be ignored in the meantime, you know?

Ah, I see. Yes, that is kind of annoying. Only the originator can mark solved or open. However, there is some logic to that. The idea is that each person asks their own question. If you find one similar but it doesn't address your issues then you should open a new one rather than attaching a comment. I think we tend to be conditioned by how forums work but Launchpad is different. It's more like a ticket tracker. The asker can decide if it's fixed or not and we can assign ourselves as support. Everyone else is a spectator. At least that is my take on it.

Can you help with this problem?
