Block launchpad registration with throw-away mailboxes

Asked by Manfred Hampl

Several recent spam messages on answers.launchpad.net have originated from users who have registered with e-mail addresses @mailinator.com

mailinator is a service allowing the creation of mail addresses without any registration and control, see https://www.mailinator.com/faq.html

I suggest checking whether it is possible and advisable to refuse registration on Launchpad with the use of such e-mail addresses.

Re-opening the question, because the latest spams again came in with @mailinator.com addresses.

There are numerous other email address sources that are difficult or impossible to block; restricting particular domains just makes groups of spammers harder to identify.

Thank you, understood.
Rating all @mailinator.com addresses potentially as spam candidates is of course also possible.
