armhf PPA build ran out of memory

Asked by Logan Rosen on 2015-07-18

I built gnuradio in my ARM PPA, and cc1plus ran out of memory: https://launchpad.net/~logan/+archive/ubuntu/arm/+build/7666782

The other builds were fine, though: https://launchpad.net/~logan/+archive/ubuntu/arm/+packages

Is there any way to get this to build on a better-specced buildd for armhf?

This is the best you'll get for now, I'm afraid, unless you get a Canonical employee to copy this into a non-virtualised PPA for you (the restriction is because of the lack of sandboxing). At the moment, all we can do is this system based on qemu-user-static on x86, which is going to be pretty memory-hungry for large builds. However, we have the hardware installed now which we'll be using to bring up a proper virtualised ARM build farm soon; this is hopefully only a couple of months away.

Can you please copy this into a non-virtualized PPA for me? :)

This question was expired because it remained in the 'Open' state without activity for the last 15 days.

I'd kind of rather not take responsibility for reviewing it myself; could you ask around on #ubuntu-devel instead?

No worries. This is no longer necessary.
