Hosted branch automatically linked to a bug

Asked by Philipp Wolfer

I added a new hosted branch at https://code.edge.launchpad.net/~phw/picard/experimental. Without assigning any bug to it it is associated with bug #3471 (which has absolutely nothing to do with that branch).

Any idea how this can happen? I'm using the test version of lp.

I deleted the association (more by accident, it was absolutely counter intuitive). But the same linking seems to have happened for the branch at https://code.edge.launchpad.net/~musicbrainz-developers/picard/experimental. Again the same bug.

That's really weird. It says here in the database that the person who recorded that association is ~phw! I wonder what's going on. You sure you didn't do this? Perhaps by using bzr itself to annotate the bug remotely?

The date it was recorded is 2008-01-16 17:21:08.957716 by the way.

Yes, that is about the date I created the branch. I'm not sure if I noticed the bug before or after the first push, but I'm 100% sure that I did not associate it with that bug. I had never seen that bug before, and it's completely unrelated.

What is really weird is the fact that the branch https://code.edge.launchpad.net/~musicbrainz-developers/picard/experimental is linked with exactly the same bug (again that bug has absolutely nothing to do with the branch or the project). I first thought the bug was copied somehow, but I only branched the code from https://code.edge.launchpad.net/~musicbrainz-developers/picard/trunk, and that trunk is not linked with that bug.

There is a revision property on the revision 736 of https://code.edge.launchpad.net/~phw/picard/experimental which says it fixes bug 3471.

There are many other revision properties on this branch that point to http://bugs.musicbrainz.org/ticket/xxx for bug numbers. I'm betting that someone by mistake referenced the wrong bug tracker in the --fixes parameter.

Launchpad links the bug to the branch if the revision property is found in a revision that is in the history (not ancestry) of the branch.

No, I guess the ticket number refers to ticket 3471 on the MusicBrainz bug tracker (http://bugs.musicbrainz.org/ticket/3471). Thanks for investigating this.
