Merge old account into current SSO one

Asked by dg

I used to have a username of "danzvash" with an email of <email address hidden>.

I don't have access to that email address any more, but I had a few contributions to ubuntuforums under the username of "danzvash".
eg this one http://ubuntuforums.org/archive/index.php/t-1001100.html
and this one http://ubuntuforums.org/archive/index.php/t-1670258.html
etc etc

Ideally I would like that history to be merged into my new SSO account (dan-g or dan-g2, unsure which, with email of <email address hidden>).

Otherwise my history on the forums is all for naught. Not that it was particularly great. But why should it be deleted just because you've upgraded your user system? Please let's keep it.

And do I have to have this ugly username "dan-g" or "dan-g2" ?? - seems to be different on successive logins.
Could I have the username "danryu" instead?

Thanks in advance ....

There's no Launchpad account with the name "danzvash". It sounds like you're just talking about an Ubuntu Forums account, which would be managed by the Ubuntu Forums staff. Launchpad staff can't help you here.

Er, ok. I thought the whole SSO thing was unifying these logins.

Could you perhaps help me out with at least a link to contact Ubuntu Forums
staff?

Basically, I've had years of contributions to the Ubuntu Forums dumped by
the SSO upgrade, and I'm receiving next to no help or advice on how to
preserve this. I can't even edit my profile because according to
ubuntuforums, I can't do that until I've got 10 posts. (I've been using and
contributing to the Ubuntu community for over 10 years, so it would be nice
not to be just dumped on the wayside with a "not my problem mate, go
somewhere else" response.)

From https://login.ubuntu.com/+faq :

"Ubuntu One is now the single account you use to log in to all services and
sites related to Ubuntu. Your Ubuntu One account is an email address and a
password that you use to sign in to Ubuntu services."

So I have this list of posts (at least) in Ubuntuforums:
http://ubuntuforums.org/search.php?searchid=7520143

And I just want to merge these into my new shiny SSO login. Can anybody
help?

Is http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=2164051 helpful for this? There's an entry there starting "If you have a previous forum account but inadvertently created a new account", which seems applicable to your situation.

That last link is definitely the way to deal with this.
