Subject: oracle-java8-installer should provide java8-runtime and java8-runtime-headless
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
oracle-java8-installer DEBIAN control file (for version 8u31+8u33arm-1~webupd8~0) provides following:

Provides: default-jre, default-jre-headless, icedtea-6-plugin, icedtea-7-plugin, java-compiler, java-jdk, java-runtime, java-runtime-headless, java-sdk, java-virtual-machine, java2-jdk, java2-runtime, java2-runtime-headless, java2-sdk, java5-jdk, java5-runtime, java5-runtime-headless, java5-sdk, java6-jdk, java6-runtime, java6-runtime-headless, java6-sdk, java7-jdk, java7-runtime, java7-runtime-headless, java7-sdk, java8-jdk, java8-sdk, openjdk-6-jre, openjdk-6-jre-headless, openjdk-7-jdk, openjdk-7-jre, openjdk-7-jre-headless, oracle-java7-bin, oracle-java7-fonts, oracle-java7-jdk, oracle-java7-jre, oracle-java7-plugin, oracle-java8-bin, oracle-java8-fonts, oracle-java8-jdk, oracle-java8-jre, oracle-java8-plugin

But 'java8-runtime' and 'java8-runtime-headless' are missing

'java8-runtime' and 'java8-runtime-headless' are the valid virtual package for Java and virtual machines : https://www.debian.org/doc/packaging-manuals/virtual-package-names-list.txt

 affects ubuntu/oracle-java8-installer

Currently there are frequent timeout errors on Launchpad. What you see might have been another one.

By the way for your problem with the java package:
The version you are talking about is from a PPA, I assume https://launchpad.net/~webupd8team/+archive/ubuntu/java
As far as I know your have to contact the PPA provider, and not try the support channels for Ubuntu.

The "oracle-java8-installer" package doesn't exist in Ubuntu, so you can't file a bug against it. As Manfred says, you need to talk to the maintainer of the PPA.
