Is it possible to import from a sub-path of a repo (SVN)?

The documentation is not quite explicit on whether it is possible to import only a specific sub-path of a (subversion) repository, instead of the complete "trunk". I.e. something like

  REPO_URL/trunk/projectxy/messages/

or only the whole trunk. I'm asking to make sure, because I consider hosting part of my project in a sub-path of a _huge_ SVN repository, where importing the entire trunk would seem extremely wasteful. I'd still like to be able to import that part into a branch on launchpad (for daily builds).

That should generally work, but it depends on the exact layout of the repository.
