Too Much Karma?

Asked by Jonathan Anderson

This is probably an odd support request, but I think that I might have too much karma.

I've answered a few support requests, but my support tracker karma is over a million. Also, I haven't answered any requests in the last month, but my karma still went from 1.2M to 1.3M over the last week or two. How can this be?

The part that really baffles me is that my Support Tracker karma went up over a period of time that I answered no support requests in. I mean, I can understand the Ubuntu community placing a high value on volunteer support (helping newbies is really important for our distro), but placing a high value on... nothing?

Jon, this is a side-effect of the way we calculate appropriate karma levels each month -- sometimes the karma given for one thing goes up or down depending on how often people have been doing other things. This seems unfair to me, so I've reported bug 72815 about it.
