Bulk remove spam from spammer users filed as bug reports

Asked by Stefano Maffulli

https://bugs.launchpad.net/openstack-community is filled with spam from users:

shfdjsjdgcck
sksharma872

and maybe others. Could you please disable these users and introduce some sort of rate limiting to filing new bug reports?

We've hidden the bug spam (I don't see an sksharma872 user, so perhaps that was a typo, but I also don't see those bugs on openstack-community any more so I presume they've been dealt with). I'm afraid that this class of spammers appears to be filing things manually through the web UI, a few bugs per account; I doubt that it's realistic to rate-limit this without interfering with other legitimate uses. The best thing to do is probably to wait until they realise they aren't deriving any benefit from it and get bored ...

Another useful piece of information: the bot created the account here, used the OpenID feature to login and spam into our site https://ask.openstack.org and once I blocked the account on Ask OpenStack, it went on Launchpad to create the bugs.

I can't see any of the bugs you mention. They must have been already marked private in such a way that I cannot see them. ~tantrikbaba800 was suspended two days ago and has no remaining publicly-visible bugs.

I'm sure there is indeed a bot involved, but (content aside) the usage patterns of any one of their users don't appear to be particularly dissimilar to some types of real users, as far as we've been able to tell so far. There are legitimate cases for filing bugs automatically or semi-automatically; something appears to be passing a captcha in order to create the user; and we've noticed cases of the users in question editing bugs after initial creation ...
