When Will Launchpad.net Enable Users to Edit (All Their Own) Postings?

Asked by Julianloui

Being a poor typist and elderly person, I find it downright exasperating not being to edit my postings. I've been posting at www.hp.com, www.linuxquestions.org, www.twuug.org, and other sites for years. All these websites and any conceivable IT websites on earth do provide their users the facility to edit their postings at any time, unfortunately EXCEPT launchpad.net!!

I am asking for the Nth time

"WHY LAUNCHPAD.NET IS SO INDIFFERENT TO THIS PARTICULAR URGENT NEED OF ITS USERS?"

It's a SHAME not to address this easy-to-fix problem! Practically every Linux website has been providing this commonsense feature for 25 years and Linux has been around for exactly 25 years also. In other words, probably Launchpad.net has been DELINQUENT for a quarter of a century! It's just too long to wait any longer. So wake up, Launchpad! We love your good work but you must act
on this matter if you don't want to appear stubborn to the whole world. Finally I thank you for allowing me to air my complaint.

Look dude I totally editted your question. Look in the top right corner. Why can I do this if Launchpad does't allow edits?

You can edit the initial question. I'm not sure about the posts that come off it.

WHY DO WE NEED A RANDOM SECTION IN CAPITALS? WHAT DOES TYPING LIKE THIS ACHIEVE?

We can all read the lower case just as well as upper. Please don't post in all caps it looks like you are shouting and achieves nothing.

I assume it was you who added the above line to the bottom of my Question. Being on the Administrative side, obviously you can edit any original posts. It was only by accident that last year I discovered that a Question originator also can edit his/her original post. That's why in the recent past I've made use of this fact. But it's not neither desirable nor helpful because we want all subsequent postings to follow each other chronologically as separate posts in order not to create confusion. I used all CAPITAL letters in Post #1 mainly to attract attention, not to shout. I do hope you appreciate this finer general linguistic point. I was tired of being ignored.

I think you have not grasped the gist of my Question. It's that Launchpad.net has not provided a facility to enable users to edit their posts except the very first ones. I've complained about it peripherally from time to time but not FRONTALLY.

I am glad that you have heard me and that you're responding whether you've got my point or not. If not, please re-read the title of my Question.

I take it you're addressing me when you wrote 'dude' whaterver you mean with that word. Does it denote contempt, humor, anger, or disrespect?

Finally, if the problem under consideration did not extist, I would not have wasted my time raising it as a (serious) Question. I do hope that you agree with me that this is a real problem, and not an illusion. It's been around for years. Sometimes truth appears
stranger than fiction.

No I am a user, just like you. Not an admin in any way.

If you use the edit question, you can remove my edit. Is this not what you need....

Perahps I can make myself even clearer by adding the word 'All" infront of "Their Postings". I don't think any user can or should have the privilege ro change someone else's postings unless he's given the right to. In your case I do not consider you an ordinary user. I don't think I can intrude into someone else's Post #1 and statrt editing it. I would be undesirable or unethical. At best it'll create only havoc and cconfusion.

I still think that you're entitled to some right whcih I have no access to. I suggest that you visit www.linuxquestions.org compare this website against it. Then you may understand my point and even empathize with me. It wouldn't hurt.

Pleasse note that whateveer I write here, I cannot change a single word. I hope this is proof enought. By the way, some Launchpad.net personnel have informed me once in a while that the only way to get this issue resolved sooner is to sound LOUDER. Launchpad.net is aware of this issue.

Theorectically only but I would hold my breadth. I'll say that filing a bug report might solve my problem if LAunchpad.net has the will power. This problem has been around for at least 10 years.
