collaborative software

Asked by John Cottier

Hello,

I am searching for collaborative software that will aid communication and progress of any (small) business projects. This is not for software development specifically but just as a general collaborative tool. The launchpad system has many features that are very usefull, EG adding comments and alerting subscribers to the update, uploading data etc. Ideally the software would run on our server through a port to the internet. Does Canonical offer software, or do you know of any software (commercial or open source) that offers launchpad type features please?

Regards

John Cottier.

Could you please see about Moin Moin. I havent used it and so not have very clear idea about it. But my limited knowledge suggest it will satisfy your need.

Hi John,
It's great to hear that you like the Launchpad collaboration features. I've talked with several different groups ranging from business analysts to writers of screenplays who enjoy using Launchpad for their non-software knowledge work. It's not currently possible to run Launchpad on your own server, but I'd love to have a further conversation with you to better understand what you are trying to do and whether we could use the existing Launchpad features. I'm emailing you to talk about this more.
cheers,
-elliot

@A.K
Thanks for the info. Moinmoin looks good for those who wish to develop their own collaborative site, but I am looking for something more "off the shelf" as it seems to have quite a steep learning curve.

@ Elliot
I did reply to you, did you receive my e-mail?

Regards

John Cottier.

Hi John,

I did, sorry about the delay. Launchpad is generally designed around
software development, so it is not as general purpose as what you are
describing. I'll email you with some suggestions.
