Why is there a linux-source-2.6.24 package in the Ubuntu distribution?

Asked by Brian Murray

There is a linux-source-2.6.24 package that people can file bugs against in Launchpad yet there is no package associated with it. Just "linux" is being used by Ubuntu and bugs keep coming in about linux-source-2.6.24. Is there some way to remove that package or redirect those bug reports? This is also problematic when dealing with a bug like 184418 where it affects linux and linux-source-2.6.24. It isn't possible to invalidate the 2.6.24 task as the bug already has a linux task.
