Ignore submodules with git import?

Asked by Elliot Saba

Hello, I want to ignore all submodules for a git import, is this possible? I want to create a recipe to build nightlies for Julia (http://julialang.org) and although we use submodules to grab external dependencies when building on users machines, I don't need these submodules with my repo for building. Is there a way to do a "shallow" checkout or somesuch where Bazaar can ignore these submodules? Can I just manually import those submodule repositories into my launchpad and then add them in manually with nest-part in the recipe if I need them?

It's not possible to get Launchpad to do an import without submodules, but there are workarounds described in the bug about the missing feature, bug #402814.

Can you help with this problem?
