Somebody needs more informations about a question I've asked

When I've asked a question and somebody needs more or more detailed informations - how can I add these additional informations to my question? Is it okay to send a mail directly to give these additional informations or exists there a standardized way to attach these informations to my original question? I know, that this is a really newbee-question - but I worked with UBUNTU & LUBUNTU since nearly 3 month and it's the first time for me, to be member in such a useful forum; therefore forgive me my maybe stupid-sounding question...

If they are asking for more information on here on Launchpad just fill in the text box and hit reply. Other areas such as forums also require a reply. It is always better to reply to things publicly rather than contacting people offline and directly as people can be on holidays or not directly involved and there are others who can help
