special characters in translation template

Hi everybody,

on a project I use gettext to walk trough all source code and find Catalog.GetString()-entries.
This works fine.
But afterwards I have a template-file (pot-format) in which entries with the same content appear several times because of special characters.
fe.
"Fa&mily Members"
"Fa&mily Members..."
"Family Members"
"Family &Members..."

So these entries will all be uploaded to launchpad-translations and need to be translated separately.

Is there a way to have them only once on launchpad (fe. Family Members) but with each variant later on in the software?

I'm afraid not. There may be separate tools out there that can help you find these near-duplicates and copy translations, but this doesn't seem to be a very common problem and I don't know any specific tools that might do this.
