Revert to previous package version

Asked by Albert Graef

There's a package pure-stllib in my https://launchpad.net/~dr-graef/+archive/pure-lang.lucid repository, even though that page doesn't show it any more. Taking a look at https://launchpad.net/~dr-graef/+archive/pure-lang.lucid/+packages?field.name_filter=pure-stllib&field.status_filter=&field.series_filter= you can see that the previous version of the package was 0.3-2, and then I uploaded a new version 0.4-1 of the package (or rather copied it over from one of my other PPAs). The new version failed to build, though. So I decided to just delete it and stick with the old 0.3-2 version.

The problem is that the pure-stllib package now isn't listed at all on https://launchpad.net/~dr-graef/+archive/pure-lang.lucid any more; it looks as though it is gone, even though the package files of the 0.3-2 version still seem to be there. I can only see the 0.3-2 version if I go into the package details and filter on superseded packages.

Does this mean that the package will now be unavailable to users of this PPA? Or will they still be able to install the 0.3-2 version of the package? I cannot test this myself, since I'm not running Lucid. So I'm wondering whether this is just a glitch in the Launchpad web interface or whether the package is really unavailable to users now. If the latter, then I'd like to know how I can make the 0.3-2 version of the package visible again; I didn't find any information about this kind of situation in the docs. Any help appreciated.

Albert

Superseded packages don't automatically reappear just because you deleted the package that superseded them. But if it's only been a few days since the new version was uploaded, you can use "Copy packages" to copy the package from the PPA's history back into the PPA, bringing 0.3-2 back from the dead.

Thanks William Grant, that solved my question.
