Please enable ARM builds for the Onboard devel team PPAs

Asked by Francesco Fumanti

Hi,

I asked a similar question a few weeks ago, but things seem to have changed in the meantime:
https://answers.launchpad.net/launchpad/+question/214251
https://dev.launchpad.net/CommunityARMBuilds

As you might know, Onboard is the default on-screen keyboard shipping with Ubuntu. The nexus 7 being a new target machine of Ubuntu and the on-screen keyboard being of great importance on a touchscreen, I would like to ask you whether you can enable the ARM builds for the PPAs of the Onboard devel team.

In fact, sometimes, we ask the person that filed a particular bug to test a particular fix by uploading a snapshot containing the fix in one of our PPAs. This allows that person to easily test it.

On my i5, the packages take only minutes to build; thus I think that there will be no problem with the build duration limit of 4 hours. The 10 builds per week should not be a problem either.

The simplest would be to enable the builds for all the PPAs over the Onboard devel team. However, if you can enable it for only one PPA of the team, I would propose to use the following:
https://launchpad.net/~onboard/+archive/ppa

Thanks in advance for taking the request again into account.

Cheers,

Francesco

Could you please check, why the PPA stopped building packages for the ARM? Thanks in advance.

I can enable it on the team ppa but it will need to be built 10 times or less and take less than 4 hours, if that's the case I can enable it for you

Hi Laura

Thanks for your reply.

Less than ten builds per week, where each takes less than for hours is not a problem.

Thanks for enabling it again. By the way, December 2012, the PPA had armel enabled. I wonder what happened that it has been disabled in the meantime. Is there also a minimal quote to respect? For example, no package was added to the PPA for about 2-3 months until few weeks ago.

Cheers

armel was and still is enabled on the PPA, but you're now building for newer Ubuntu series that have armhf instead of armel. Laura additionally enabled armhf.
