Unable To Import OpenPGP Key

Asked by ScottAS

All

I am encountering a problem when attempting to import my self-signed OpenPGP Key. I created it and appended it to an E-Mail Address I created and of which I own the Domain Name. I uploaded my OpenPGP key to the default Key Server and once also to the Ubuntu.Com Key Server. I have queried my Key ID and my OpenPGP Key is present on the Ubuntu.Com Key Server. I attempted to import my OpenPGP Key having input my Key Fingerprint however I received a prompt stating that it could not be imported regardless of the fact that it is present on the Ubuntu.Com Key Server.

I am unsure as to what to do to resolve my problem and also as to which pieces of information I can and can not reveal regarding my OpenPGP Key. I realise that I cannot reveal my private key however I am unsure as to my Fingerprint and Key ID.

I have queried my problem via Answers.Launchpad.Net however each resolution to my stated problem is different and does not resolve my problem.

Hi Scott,

what's the error message you got when uploading your key?

Thanks.

I clicked the wrong button. My last message was requesting more info, not a proper answer.

The error message I received was that OpenPGP key could not be imported. I was further prompted to ensure that my Fingerprint had been entered correctly, which it had, and to ensure that my OpenPGP had been uploaded to KeyServer.Ubuntu.Com, which it had. I haven't attempted to import my OpenPGP Key for 15 hours therefore I may attempt to just now.

I am no longer receiving an error message on attempting to import my OpenPGP key and have done so successfully. I would like to thank you for your assistance.

I have queried KeyServer.Ubuntu.Com and have discovered that I have two OpenPGP Keys listed as being associated with my E-Mail Address, although I did not generate the first OpenPGP Key and am suspicious as to its creation. Unfortunately because of the fact that II did not create it, I cannot revoke it and am at a loss as to what to do.

I have successfully imported my OpenPGP key via KeyServer.Ubuntu.Com and in addition have signed the Code Of Conduct with my OpenPGP key although it was somewhat difficult to complete at first. I have contacted yourself in regard to another matter but I would otherwise like to thank yourself in regard to my problem.
