Convert an account into a team

Asked by luisico

Hi,

I would like to convert this account into a team. Is that possible?
If not, should I delete this account and create a team with the same name from scratch?

Thanks

Hi, I've finally removed the old account and created a team with the same name.
Everything seems to be working fine. I can access:
https://launchpad.net/~cartodb

The problem is that when I logged in the top right it appears a link to ~cartodb-deactivatedaccount instead of ~cartodb.
How can I change this?

Thanks

Also, when I copy packages from another repo in the target repos combo my past account repos and my new ones appear.

Hi Laura, thanks for answering.

I had a normal account "cartodb". I realized that I needed a team instead of a normal account. So, I removed my cartodb account and right after that I created a team with the same name "cartodb".

But now I'm experiencing the other problems I said in this thread. My team "cartodb" is working but there are two issues.
When I'm logged in, I can see, in the righ top of the screen, my user link appears as ~cartodb-deactivatedaccount instead of ~cartodb. When I click on that link it takes me to my old normal account.
So, it seems that when I deleted my account, instead of being totally removed from the system it was renamed to cartodb-deactivatedaccount and when I created the team with the same name it seems like somehow my team ~cartodb and my old account, renamed to ~cartodb-deactivatedaccount, got linked (maybe because the email being the same?).

So, I want that my old account now called ~cartodb-deactivatedaccount totally removed and unlinked from my new team.

This is actually a weird behaviour. I don't know if it's a launchpad feature or a bug.

Thanks

It is not possible to totally remove a launchpad profile. A lot of verification steps are needed to undo this.

You need to reactivate the profile by logging so that you can remove identifying information. Once activated you can add a new email address, then delete the conflicting email address. Logout of the old profile.

Login as yourself, then visit https://launchpad.net/people to choose "Request a merge" and choose the unwanted profile. Once Lp verifies that you control both profiles, it will effectively delete the unwanted profile.

If you team is not fixed by this. then delete it and start again.

Hi Curtis,

I did everything like you said. In the end I had problems merging the old account into the team, but that was because I clearly missunderstood the concept of team. I believed that teams and accounts were at the same level.
After changing the old account name I just merged that account into my personal username so I took the ownership of the team with my personal account.

So, everything is ok now.

Thanks a lot for the help.
