Bug Status / Workflow

Asked by Mark Ferguson

I have read the bug status page http://news.launchpad.net/general/of-bugs-and-statuses, which gives a good explanation of what each bug status means.

What is not clear though is what happens if the bug reaches fixed released an there are still problems with the released patch.
Should the existing bug have it's status changed or should a new bug be raised and linked to the old.

I asked this question because I noticed that comments were still being added to fixed released bugs outlining problems with
the fix. And it is not clear whether these comments were being reviewed by the appropriate people.

I think there needs to be clear instructions for what to do in this case.

Hi Mark,

subscribers still receive notifications even when the bug is marked fix released.

I think that when a bug is marked fix released and the patch doesn't solve the problem, the status should be changed back to confirmed, but this policy varies from project to project. This question is better handled by the triage team of the project in question.

Cheers.
