OOPS-11dcf20bdf63f999b9451a5acd611f02 bug submission failure
I tried on Sunday to submit this bug report, and again this morning. Launchpad can't seem to process it.
Subject: update-initramfs not including previously-working script in .../local-premount
affects: initramfs-tools-bin
I have 2 hosts that run mdadm RAIDs. One is running 11.10 and the other
is running 12.04.
Both recently started having the same new problem with a script I've
been using for years: sleepAWhile. I suspect that maybe this script is
not being copied to the initramfs any more when initramfs is being
constructed. Here are the relevant lines from /var/log/boot.log. These
lines are identical on both hosts:
Begin: Running /scripts/
Begin: Mounting root file system ... Begin: Running /scripts/local-top
... done.
Begin: Running /scripts/
/scripts/
/scripts/
done.
Begin: Running /scripts/
done.
Begin: Running /scripts/
ORDER, I presume, is an artifact made when initramfs is constructed,
because it is not present in
/usr/share/
.../local-premount/ from the 11.10 machine; it is not materially
different from the 12.04 machine :
/usr/
total used in directory 20 available 684383952
drwxr-xr-x 2 root root 176 Dec 20 2011 .
drwxr-xr-x 10 root root 392 Dec 20 2011 ..
-rwxr-xr-x 1 root root 1553 Sep 16 2011 fixrtc
-rwxr-xr-x 1 root root 177 Aug 24 2011 mdadm
-rwxr-xr-x 1 root root 226 Oct 3 2011 ntfs_3g
-rwxr-xr-x 1 root root 1224 Sep 16 2011 resume
-rwxr-xr-x 1 root root 470 Jul 24 09:45 sleepAWhile
Attached is a copy of sleepAWhile. Its purpose is to shut down the
RAIDs, wait a few seconds, and then restart them. This is necessary
because without this procedure, the RAIDs, which have been accessed in
great haste prior to this point in the boot process, fail to attach
their spare disks. Thus, the spares become detached at almost every
boot, and it's annoying to have to re-add them after being nagged by
mdadm about their disappearance via e-mail. This started happening at
some point during this past few months, during which time we only rarely
had to re-boot, so I can't say exactly when the problem began.
