Launchpad itself

a friend just requested to join my group, but I recieved no notifiation in gmail even though i am admin and owner

I am admin of https://launchpad.net/~lubuntu-wiki-docs

when https://launchpad.net/~amjjawad requested to join this morning, I expected a notificaiton in my gmail.
Why did I not recieve a notification email after his request? I waited 2 hours. When I went to the launchpad group listed above, I saw the request and approved it.

After checking with ops, they investigated and saw no issue, there have been a lot of network delays today so that may have been the issue.

Can you help with this problem?
