Please make hardware-certification PPA public

Asked by Marc Tardif

Hi folks,

Before, the hardware-certification PPA needed to be private because the checkbox-certification packages contained scripts for internal purposes only. Now, all these scripts have been migrated to the base checkbox package that is part of Ubuntu, so there is no longer a need for the PPA to be private. So, the hardware-certification team would appreciate if you could make this PPA public:

  https://launchpad.net/~hardware-certification/+archive/ppa

Thanks!

That's not possible if the ppa has already been published.

Just to be clear, a PPA can go from public to private but it can't go from private to public? If so, might there be a reasonable workaround to achieve the same objective? For example, by migrating all the packages in the private PPA to a public one, and then replacing the private PPA with the public one.

Once packages are published, the visibility of the PPA is locked.

You can create a new ppa, copy all the packages to the new ppa, then delete the old ppa. User subscribed to the old PPA must change to the new PPA. PPA names cannot be deleted, so the original name cannot be reused.

How can I copy packages from the old ppa to the new one?

Visit your PPA, Choose the VIew details link, then the Copy packages link
