Apport Failure

Asked by Leo H

Xubuntu reports an error. I submit the error by clicking on the panel error notification icon. Xubuntu opens Launchpad in Firefox. There is no option to continue with the error reporting process. Launchpad asks me to quote error ID OOPS-7c3bfa7b894d3d8401fb1004c54c1ad9. Stuck.

What is the url that is opened in Firefox that creates the page with the timeout?

Actually, what would be helpful is the version of apport that you have installed. You can check via the command 'apt-cache policy apport' in a terminal.

The flash drive has already been shipped to a user in India for xubuntu installation, so I can't check anymore with 'apt-cache policy apport'. However, the flash drive was loaded with xubuntu 12.04LTS as a live USB / installation USB with the standard 32-bit iso downloaded from the xubuntu web site. The list of packages in this iso is probably somewhere on the Ubuntu web site, but buried so deep that I can't find it.

The oops shows:
     NotFound: Object: <Distribution 'Ubuntu' (ubuntu)>, name: u'grub-pc'
    PATH_INFO: /ubuntu/+source/grub-pc/+filebug

This is most likely a distro packaging issue where a non-official package is trying to report a bug on Ubuntu.
