Problem imoprting PGP key

Asked by Peter Harris

I have created a PGP key and pushed it to the Ubuntu key server & checked that it is there. When I click 'Import Key' in Launchpad it says message has been sent but no message is received by me. I have attempted this several times over the last few days without success. Can anyone help please?

The 'Import Key' button shouldn't be sending any e-mail as far as I know. Is that the button you expect to be sending the e-mail, or are you using something else?

William mentions the import a key button should indeed be sending an email. I'll dig further.

What exactly is your key? Is it available on the ubuntu key server? Have you checked your spam folder?

Hi Jelmer,
Message is not in the Spam folder. I have browsed the Ubuntu Key Server and the key ID is there. When I click the 'Import Key' button it says that an encrypted email has been sent but I haven't received it. I have tried this several times over a few days.

Come to think about it, I did not get an email when Jelmer replied but this used to happen.

It seems that I am not receiving any emails from Launchpad so I am going to close my account and start again.

That's not going to change anything. It's a problem in the mail pipeline somewhere between Launchpad and your inbox, not related to Launchpad itself. Can you give an approximate time for when the email was sent?

Hi William, I tried again a few minutes ago but did not receive an email. When I deactivated my account and started again I received an email from Launchpad but I did not get an email to tell me you had replied to my question.

Thanks to Jelmer & William for your assistance. I have opened a gmail account and this has solved the problem.
