Can I build custom Ubuntu-based Derivative Distribution with Launchpad?

Asked by Mantas Kriaučiūnas

Hi Launchpad admins and developers :)

I'm main developer of custom, Ubuntu-based distribution - Baltix, see https://launchpad.net/baltix
I'm interesting in new Baltix releases automation - now I'm building new Baltix releases (Baltix-*.iso files) manually, with simple script, but this takes a lot of work :(

According to https://dev.launchpad.net/LEP/DerivativeDistributions (and https://dev.launchpad.net/LEP ) Launchpad can build custom Ubuntu-based Derivative Distributions.

I've tried to initialise one old Baltix distro series - hardy, but got an error, see https://launchpad.net/baltix/hardy/+initseries :

The series' distribution has no publisher configuration. Please ask an administrator to set this up.

So, can I build new release (.iso file) of Ubuntu-based Derivative Distribution (Baltix) with Launchpad? Currently I need to make new Baltix release, based on Ubuntu 12.04 LTS.

The Derivative Distributions feature is not ready for general use, and there's no timeline for when it might be done. Also, the first iteration will only be able to build packages, not ISOs.

Can you help with this problem?
