Unhandled exception processing upload - no valid email address

Asked by Forage

Hi,

I just tried uploading a new package but I get a response e-mail stating:

"Unhandled exception processing upload: '<email address hidden>' is not a valid email address."

The upload is rejected as a result.

I have used the same e-mail address in the past for a different package with no problems. Nothing has changed on my end in the meantime. I.e. I'm still registered with that address on Launchpad.

What could be the cause of the issue?

Yours,

Found the cause of the problem with the help of the people on IRC.

It appears that the changes files at "<source>/debian/changes" had my name and e-mail included as "name <'e-mailaddres'>", where the single quotes around the e-mail address are obviously wrong.

I still have no clue how this has changed from previous packages though.

Please consider this a RFE to include more context in the error messages send be launchpad. If it would have stated the following, I would have spotted in right away:

"Unhandled exception processing upload: "Age Bosma <'<email address hidden>'>" does not contain a valid email address."
