new pgp-key upload before or after change of e-mail-address?

Asked by Helene

I would like to change my e-mail-address in launchpad. However, having signed the Code of Conduct, the old e-mail-address is linked to my pgp-key on the ubuntu key-server. I have in the meantime added my new e-mail-address-to-be to my pgp key but not yet uploaded this to the ubuntu key-server.

Which way round will I have to do the change of e-mail-address and uploading of the key so as not to experience too many problems? As I am a member of Ubuntu German Translators, I would not want to be locked out of launchpad for any long period of time. (Which is why I am asking the question beforehand).

Is there anything else I need to be aware of in doing the above?

thanks

The order doesn't matter. Adding the new key will ask you to verify its email addresses, but that won't lock you out of Launchpad at any point. Once you verify them, you can use <https://launchpad.net/~/+editemails> to remove ones you don't want, register additional addresses, or select the one that should be used as your primary address.

It did work.

Still, you should have added that it is necessary to also change the e-mail address under login.launchpad.net. so as to being able to login with the new address. Fortunately, I found this information in someone else's question.

However, now everything seems to work the way it should. Thank you.
