HOWTO make binary package from private ppa public

Asked by David Graf

Hello
I am having a private ppa on launchpad and was able to build a binary package with it (https://launchpad.net/~28msec/+archive/sausalito-coresdk). Now, I would like to make the binary package public to release it. Is that possible without making the ppa public (we cannot do this because our code is proprietary)?

Hello
Still, this is an open question. Is it somehow possible to make the built binary package public in a private ppa account?

Hello, sorry for the delay in replying.

You have 2 options to allow people to access your packages:
1. Assign people a subscription to your PPA. You can do this by clicking "manage access" at the top right of the PPA page. Anyone you give access to will get an email telling them how they can download packages from your PPA.
2. Set up a public PPA and copy the package from your private PPA to the public one.

Hello Julian

The second option is very interesting. Therefore, I created a second public ppa and tried to copy my packages from the private to the public account. Unfortunately, it didn't manage to copy the binaries only. I managed to copy the full packages with the sources and binaries only. Should it be possible to copy the binaries only? This would be perfect for us.

Unfortunately you cannot copy binaries only, only source, or source & binary.

Can you help with this problem?
