Unable to delete launchpad PPA

Asked by WolfNet

I created a PPA called trafficserver. I needed to change the GPG key used for signing, so I decided to wipe the slate clean and remove the PPA from my account to recreate it. It quoted me something like 1 hour for the average deletion process. I had time, why not.

After about 5 hours I asked in the #launchpad channel about it, and someone reported they had a few PPAs over a year old that were still in the same grayed out status mine was in. Another helpful voice noted that I could re-enable the package by appending /+edit to the URL and recheck publish and enabled. So I'm back there, at least.

I was hoping to use this PPA in production and need to be sure it won't poof at a later date. Has anyone experienced this and knows either if I'm safe to continue as is, or if there's a proper method available to purge the aforementioned PPA? I'd prefer to purge it, but if that's not possible, then at least looking for reassurance I'm safe to continue as-is.

Thanks for your time.

Hi

Deletion of PPAs only removes the external repository, not the PPA on Launchpad, which is merely marked as deleted. Nobody else sees the greyed out name, though.

You can re-activate it as you say, but you cannot re-upload the same package files again unless versions get incremented.

Hope that helps.

I'll just increment my version so I can move on. Thanks for quick reply.
