Personal information mistakenly posted publicly in Launchpad comment

Asked by Alessandro Menti

I have noticed that the bug reporter of a bug I'm a triager for has publicly posted his mailing address and telephone number in a comment, perhaps not knowing that the comment itself would have been published on the Launchpad Web interface as well as sent to me. (Maybe the bug reporter, unfamiliar with Launchpad, just replied to the notification e-mail, thinking it would only have been sent to me privately).

The comment in question is https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/evolution/+bug/883892/comments/3 and the pieces of information to hide are:
-in "potete contattarmi telefonicamente al n° 0141 946723, preferibilmente verso le ore 12.": the telephone number (0141 946723);
-in "Grazie ancora e cordiali saluti. Luotto Evasio - Via T. Villa 106 - 14019 Villanova d'Asti": the address ("Via T. Villa 106 - 14019 Villanova d'Asti").

Thanks for your help.

Sorry - the comment was moved to <https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/firefox/+bug/883892/comments/3>. The bug reporter also left his personal information in a reply (<https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/firefox/+bug/883892/comments/5>), please remove the data from there as well.

Launchpad does not have a facility for redacting only parts of comments, only hiding entire comments.

Since that would destroy the usefulness of the bug, I'm not sure what the right thing to do is. Does the reporter actually care about this? If he is already including this in all his outbound email, he may not.

Thanks for your reply.

I don't think the reporter cares (in his following comments, although I have warned him that his personal information was posted publicly, he didn't mention it). I agree with you, the best choice would be to leave everything as is. Thanks anyway.
