We require a project group for the various GEM foundation projects

Asked by Muharem Hrnjadovic on 2011-10-29

Hello there!

We are using launchpad for the openquake project that is concerned with seismic hazard, risk and socio-economic impact. The GEM foundation (http://globalquakemodel.org/) is now ramping up its efforts and kick-starting more related projects that we would like to host on launchpad as well, e.g.:

    - the faulted earth project (http://www.globalquakemodel.org/hazard-global-components/active-faults) aiming to build a global active fault and seismic source database
    - the modeler's toolkit aiming to support researchers when creating seismic models and transforming them (historical seismicity, instrumental seismicity, strain rate models, active fault data etc.)
    - the OpenGEM web/GIS GUI for the openquake calculation engine and the modeler's toolkit
    - various components built by partnering research institutions and consortia (http://www.globalquakemodel.org/global-components)

All these projects are in the public domain and open source. The GEM foundation is a non-profit organisation aiming to further the design, development and deployment of state-of-the-art models and tools for earthquake risk assessment worldwide (mission statement: http://www.globalquakemodel.org/mission).

A project group would hugely help us in organising and managing all these projects. We are hence requesting a project group called "OpenGEM".

Thank you very much in advance!
