sound card recognised no sound worked prievious versions prior to 11-04

My sound card is recognized in 11-10 but no sound, had same problem in 11-04 used alsa mixer in 11-04 to switch the master on and then I had sound.I installed it in11-10 but it dose not work, no problem in previous versions 10-04 and 10-10
