Home folder prefs

Asked by Mike Lee

Ok so I downloaded the new Ubuntu 11.10 from 11.04 I am not to pleased with the things the way they are , I am using 11.10 in Ubuntu Classic version as I don't like Unity, my point is this:-

Before in 11.04 the Home folder I could change the background colour to what ever I wanted and also now I can not it seems that option has been removed, also the folders in 11.04 I could add the folders with small icons but now I can not this has also been removed why on earth do that?.

In 11.10 Ubuntu classic mode the top and bottom bars I have some Icons like Banshee and by accident I have now 2 of the same Icons called Update manager no matter what I do I can not get rid of the one I am stuck with both Icons of the same name. So no matter what program Icons I put there I can not take them off I am stuck with them. All I get with the right mouse click is Launch and Properties but nothing as to get rid of the Icon should I need to.

I was under the impression that 11.10 was better but this seems so have gone backwards not forwards.

Or is it me thats doing some thing wrong here?

TIA.
Mike.
