How do I register files to appear in the 'Download' area of the Overview page?

Asked by Bill Hayes

There is a 'Downloads' area on the right side of the Overview page.
Mine is empty, but others have green buttons to download .zip and .gz files.
How do I load files and have them appear there?
Thanks

Hi,

The detail which the Launchpad UI unfortunately does not make very clear, is that download files need to be associated with a "release" of a project, which is in turn associated with a "milestone" and a "series".

So, first choose or create a series - most likely you will want to use the default series called "trunk" that Launchpad automatically creates when a project is first created.

Then choose that series from the "Series and milestones" panel of your project page, and create a milestone and a release on that milestone, named for the version of the files you intend to upload.

You can then attach the files you want to that release.

That's what I needed!

Also, I now understand that I can select any file to be uploaded
to the Download area, so I can now 'ignore' generated files (like .exe) in Bazaar
which don't really belong under source control versioning.

Thanks for the quick response Max.
