Unable to set my primary login email address

Asked by WindyWeather

I logged in, and went here: https://launchpad.net/~windyweather

I added a new email address, then went to my email and clicked the link to verify it.
Success.
Then I logged out.
Then I tried to login with that address and it said it wasn't valid.

Then I tried from that page to set the new address and it said it was already set.

You folks have a problem, apparently.
Thanks,
ww

A rather obscure detail of how Launchpad works is that authentication has now been spun off into the Ubuntu/Canonical/Launchpad SSO (Single Sign On) service.

As a result, *both* Launchpad itself and the SSO service have a separate list of your email addresses.

For further confusion, login.launchpad.net is no longer part of Launchpad itself, but is actually part of the SSO service.

In order to resolve your issue, you will need to separately add your new email address to your SSO account (which will include another verification email step). To do that, go here: https://login.launchpad.net/

Ok. So for some reason I have two accounts. I think the Software Service on Ubuntu asked me to create a new account, and it wasn't clear that this was going to create a Launchpad account, so now I have two with different emails. Ok no problem.

But, This page can log you in...
https://login.launchpad.net/
But after that, there are no links to ANYWHERE.

Isn't that a problem? Ok so I've logged in. Now I have to TYPE launchpad.net into the address line to get off the page.

Your dual login scheme seems pretty confusing to me. But at least you can make a link on the login.launchpad.net page to get to the REAL LAUNCHPAD, so I don't have to type that in. Right?

fwiw,
