Different projects with same name

I've just started a project, Mariposa's Electronic Storage System or MESS. Their is another MESS at launchpad of a much different nature. Our project URL is https://launchpad.net/mariposa-ess which is not a problem. Our display names however are the same, MESS.

MESS was accepted as our display name when I registered but I wanted to make sure the duplication will not be a problem.

That's not a problem per se, but it will be confusing to end-users and
will make your Google-ranking less positive. Have you considered using a
different name? It's really good to have a unique name for a project.
It's even better to have a name which is not going to be confused with a
real english word.

I've also spoken with the maintainer of

to see whether he is actually going to be using his project. I'll let
you know of the result.

I can see you point about the English word. However as far as a Google
ranking I doubt the project will have much interest outside of our food
coop.

I did a search for both mess and mariposa (the full name being
"Mariposa's Electronic Storage System") at the launchpad front page.
The results there seemed clear. Though of course if any of it is useful
they're welcome to it.

Good, I took a look at https://launchpad.net/mess/ but couldn't figure
out how to contact the maintainer. If they have any issue or problem
with our use of mess I'll be glad to figure something out.

I have arranged for the name "mariposa" to be freed. Would that be an acceptable name (instead of mess)?

Yeah I think thst would be okay. Would the address then be https://edge.launchpad.net/mariposa ?

What else would I need to do? Would changing "Change details->Display name" to Mariposa be enough? Or do I also need to change "Change details->Title" to just mariposa?
